The Terrans are a playable race of humans. Terran combat units are all ranged. Individual Terran units are between the Zerg and Protoss units in terms of strength. Terrans are the only race that can build buildings anywhere they want to, without needing Creep like the Zerg or Pylons like the Protoss. Some Terran buildings have the ability to Lift Off, allowing them to fly to another location. Terrans are also the only race that can repair their structures and mechanical units using their workers, and have Medivacs, allowing quick in-battle healing of biological units. When Terran structures are below 33% health, they burn, losing 3 HP/sec. Also, unlike the other races, Terran units and structures do not have any native life regeneration, so these ways to heal and repair are needed.
LoreThe terrans are relative newcomers to the Koprulu sector. They are the descendents of a disastrous colonization expedition launched from Earth centuries ago, its human cargo made up of dissidents and malcontents the government deemed expendable. The survivors of the expedition established three colonies that became the basis for the major power blocs in terran space: the Confederacy, the Kel-Morian Combine, and the Umojan Protectorate. The corrupt Confederacy was overthrown by terrorist and revolutionary Arcturus Mengsk during the chaos of the zerg invasion. Now the Terran Dominion has emerged from the ashes of the old Confederacy as the dominant power, ruled by none other than Emperor Arcturus I.
