The large, highly advanced Starport is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all space-faring vehicles and starships used by the Confederacy. Like all primary structures it is mobile, but extremely vulnerable while in transit.

The Starport can build an attached Control Tower, which unlocks more advanced air units, and researches upgrades for them as well.

The Starport has returned in StarCraft 2, and now produces almost exclusively new units. The Battlecruiser has returned, but other new units include the Banshee, Medivac, Raven, and the Viking.

The Control Tower has also been replaced by new add-ons. The Reactor increases production, while the Tech Lab researches upgrades for the Starport's units.
