The Queen is a powerful caster unit that cannot attack, but has a set of veratile abilities. It can disrupt enemy armies with Ensnare and Spawn Broodlings, recon with Parasite, and produce highly explosive suicide units by infesting a Terran Command Center.
Lore
The Zerg Queen does not produce larvae, as her name might suggest, but she has earned her royal status from her ability to spawn numerous other parasitic creatures. The Queen has no natural armament of her own and since her lightly armored body leaves her vulnerable to attack, she usually stays near the central hive to watch over maturing Zerg.

StarCraft 2
The Queen's StarCraft 2 model
The
Queen has gone through some of the most radical transformations of any unit in StarCraft 2. It is now a ground unit which can attack and has completely new abilities. At one point there was a limit of 1 Queen per player, which made it similar to WarCraft 3's heroes, but this limitation has since been removed.
