The Plasma Shield is used by all Protoss units and structures and is essentially an extension of normal HP. Plasma Shields regenerate very quickly (2/sec) once the unit is out of combat, which is defined as not having been attacked within the last 10 seconds. Shields are drained before the unit's HP is. Shields do not stop damage bonuses (such as the Immortal's extra damage vs Armored units) from taking effect on the unit beneath them. Shields are vulnerable to EMP attacks.
