Lore

After the Brood War, the increasing use of command centers in combat zones led to the development of standard schematics for upgrading them to a dedicated military role. One such variant is the planetary fortress, featuring increased armor and heavy defensive armament. It was designed by Ares, a weapon designing company. Structures similar to orbital commands and planetary fortresses were in use by the Kel-Morian Combine by 2502.
