The Phase Cannon was originally the Protoss' main base defense building, but has now been scrapped and replaced by the Photon Cannon. The Phase Cannon was basically the same building, but with a slightly different look and an additional ability to relocate itself. The Phase Cannon could transform into an energy form (a process which took 3 seconds) and could then move anywhere within the power grid of a Pylon or Phase Prism. While transformed, the cannon was not able to attack and if the power grid was disrupted, it would remain stuck in its energy form until powered again. The Phase Cannon was also a detector of cloaked units.
