The Dropship is a flying transport unit, able to carry Terran units across the battlefield. The Dropship provides 8 slots for transporting.
Lore Heavily armored Terran Dropships are a vital part of Colonial defense and are fully rated for both atmospheric and deep space flight. The daredevil pilots of these sometimes faulty, unreliable ships are charged with delivering Marine armor and infantry to any hotspot or combat zone. Early experiments in equipping Dropships with weapons systems were scrapped in favor of greater carrying capacity. Upgrades
StarCraft 2 The Dropship was set to return in StarCraft 2 and was indeed in earlier builds. However, Blizzard merged the roles of the Dropship and the Medic into a single unit, the Medivac, and so the traditional Dropship has been scrapped. The Medivac looks about the same as the earlier Dropship did, but now has the medic's white cross symbol on its wings.
