Lore

The Cybernetics Core is a secondary Protoss building which houses the construction materials and automated factories essential to the production of the powerful Protoss Dragoons. Located deep within the Core are the mysterious essence translators that bond the spirits of fallen Protoss to the cold metal exoskeletons of the Dragoons.

Starcraft 2

There has been a few changes to the Cybernetics core in SC2. Firstly the health and shield value have been raised to 550 respectively. The cost has been reduced to 150 minerals. It still has the upgrades for the Protoss fleet but now it notably houses the Warp Gate Upgrade which enables the transformation of Gateways into Warp Gates.
