We've recieved some new gfx, these are Unit Portraits. Those little animated things that are shown in your HUD whenever you select that unit. These are for the
Archon,
Dark Templar,
Void Ray,
Hellion,
Marauder,
Nighthawk,
Baneling,
Corruptor and
Lurker. In that order:
They look like they could have as many polygons as an entire WarCraft 3 scene

Hopefully they'll be high quality movie clips and not live rendered in the HUD.

I think that posted in three threads would count as spamming...
The portraits are very cool, but are these going to be rendered real-time? That would really be an unnecessary drain for something relatively minor. Hopefully there will be an option for the portrait detail in the graphics options.

yes
not really, what really eats performance is lots of polygons and high res textures on the screen, this is just 1 portrait and hardly eats more fps than 3 units on the screen. Besides I'm sure there will be an option to turn em off if you wanna squeeze out those precious 2 more frames per second

4) Will the Unit Portraits in SC2 be pre-rendered high quality video clips like in SC1 ? willygundersen (Battle.net)
The unit portraits will be shown in much higher quality than the actual units on the screen, similar to the original StarCraft and Warcraft III. They will not be video clips, but will be animations rendered in game.

The original Starcraft had a "still picture portrait" and a "no portrait" option. So we will hopefully see this in Starcraft 2 as well.
