Battle Report #2 is finally out! It's a game between Matt Cooper (Zerg) and David Kim (Terran) played on Blistering Sands. Go watch it! Then leave a comment with your thoughts.
Aw, the early size report was wrong, it's about the same size as BR1, so it's probably not 1920x1200.
PKZeppelin wrote:Sigh, video buffering is really slow, will wait until it will get more stable
You can download the lower quality version (this is the one that plays on the page as a flash video) directly here: http://us.media.blizzard.com/starcraft2 ... ort_02.flv Edit: At around 6:27 we see that the Banelings now walk instead of roll. I don't believe this was known before...interesting. They look a bit too slow and bloated in their walk to me, but with their increased size (size increased a long time ago, probably started walking shortly after) I think I prefer it to a humongous rolling thing. Full size video is now 7% downloaded (52.5/678 MB). Edit2: Around 10:27 Dustin says "terrible, terrible damage"
Interesting game, I've got to say I really like the Hydralisk model it looks really badass! About the Hunter Seeking missile- it did less damage than I actually expected it to do(luckily), but it seems like a fun ability.
Oh, and infantry units have different sizes? Apparently a bunker can only hold two Marauders?

Isn't that before the speed upgrade? Or do they actually only walk now? Now I've got to watch it again!
Undifty wrote:Oh, and infantry units have different sizes? Apparently a bunker can only hold two Marauders?
Yeah, apparently. I think the bunker only takes four slots, and Marauders are two transport slots while the infantry are 1. Seems pretty likely, but theoretically it could be a different case for a general transport like a Medivac.

I don't know if the Banelings ever actually had their speed upgraded in this game. Not sure. Also, we finally got a visual confirming that it's MULE, not Mule, so unfortunately part of one of our questions as part of the fansite Q&A is now already known.
The Spine Crawler moves way faster than I expected. I thought it'd be sort of a slow creeping, not a run! Is the new Infestor ever seen unburrowed? Around 15:54 (and again sometime later) it's visible burrowed. (I don't have the full quality one yet though, so I can't really see what it looks like) Seems like it'll be spending a lot of its in-game time underground...

Did you notice the super-slow burrow time on the Spine Crawler, though?

Edit: Yeah, its the old one like mentioned below.. Atleast it shows the infestor used in a unburrowed state. Check out 15:15 - 15:23, moving across the bottom of the screen.

Huh, that's weird...I wonder if they only have the art but haven't made the new in-game model based on it yet. BTW my download stopped at 96% and is only uploading now. I have P2P communications disabled ATM and it won't download it from Blizz's direct connection either.
Awesome video. The new artwork looks even better. everytime I think Blizzard couldn't get better they get better!!!
The nighthawk was amazing, I hope it stays that way. I can see the HS missil being to powerful though, but it can be stopped. Overall it was a awesome game. The zerg units could use some more work, but I felt they were much better balanced then before.
The baneling walks? interesting, but it looked great though. New infester work was good, hydras need to be more effective vs marine, but I'm not complaining.
David Kim made a lot of mistakes, but was still able to pull it off.
Marauder had new attack grpahics, death graphics great.
Overall I give it a 9.325 out of 10. This game is really shaping up to look good. Now all we need to do is fix the upgrade system!
I was really worried about early game map domination by Zerg early on... till they focused back on the Terran again(the observer followed Zerg too much imho) And their defensive strengths stood out again.
If the Zerg had gone mutas, it could have been a much different game, but then of course David Kim seems to be their best game tester there
Khalleb wrote:Its should be interesting to see early game of zerg against protoss
If you've seen the Yellow vs. Sonkie game, it doesn't look like it will be particularly glorious for Zerg. But who knows with the number of changes that have gone into the game since then.
I wish the commentators had talked about the MULE drop @ 19:42. Notice the huge number of SCVs and the single MULE forced to distance-mine. He doesn't stop them, either, if you watch the minimap.

yea build this is an old build i want to see that on the new build
Ugh. Really don't like the Hunter-Seeker as it stands. Any canny Terran player can now utterly and completely destroy Zerg players of just about any skill level. It needs to be dialed back for sheer balancing purposes.
AUDIE wrote:My only question is was that fat thing the infester and did it kill the nighthawk?
I don't recall an Infestor killing a nighthawk, and it seems pretty unlikely considering its lack of attack and its abilities, but the Infestor still has its old purple pear with mouths model, so you'd probably recognize it. I do recall a Queen killing a Nighthawk at one point...or was it a Banshee? I don't remember. Either way, the Queen seems to be quite good at killing air.

Yes the Queen does seem like a good air killer. Those hunter-seeker missiles though did a great job saving the terran from destruction. I was suprised how weak hydralusk seem vs marines and I was also surprised how long marines lasted without medivac.
Matt Cooper is a noob First he gets stuck with Banelings during early game in Terran base and doesn't go around to attack SCVs, but chooses that Terran units(Reapers?) instead. What a fail, it's early game man, attack workers to hold economy damn it. Then, after when he did that "terrible terrible damage" he attacked empty bunker, instead going for SCVs again. He should read some theory before playing first so he would know that Banelings vs. buildings is no-no. And lastly, he burrows Banelings and doesn't attack Terran group passing by, but when Terran group goes for Watchtower he all of the suddens decides to attack with these Banelings+lings, making them not as effective as could be if he attacked before. Overall Matt is dumbass, and brings shame to the Zerg. The dumbest moment when he kept burrowed units despite Terran saw and attacked them. Agreed with elfootman, noob game They should ask progamers to make a decent battlereport.
P.S. That Terran SCVs drop on new expansion was pretty awesome.
Also it looks a bit "acted" to show different units and abilities, rather than win. Terran without Siege Tank in TvZ? No Lurkers? C'mon, so many gas wasted on these Banelings...

Euhm, this is the best SC2 has ever looked, it's a recent build with most of the new shaders, did you see the dust breeze thingy in the middle?
Also, these games are just for fun to showcase the game, not give the best of esports.. and hindsight is 20/20
Couldn't agree more, I really enjoyed the graphics. And the animations are just great- but a big minus in the Battle Report was the pathing-bug for the Drone as it was chasing the SCV around the Bunker at the start of the video. (It got stuck and stopped moving for maybe a second or so.)
About the heroines, I really hope we get to see some!

Loved the way the new (starting) Zergling model looked. It's actually starting to look like a proper "light assault warrior", instead of a typical, gnarl-toothed blur. It's got visible definition, is what I'm tryin' ta say. Also really like the map design, and the overall art texture.

Why they don't give us 2 more videos for one battle report, each video from one player perspective. it would tell us more details. Are they going to show us a battle report with 4 players. it would be more fun.

I dont know if a 2v2 is a good idea. But a 2v2 can show us some new ability who can use on an other race

im not so sure for the 2v2. I don't even find any game in 2v2 as much entertening as an 1v1 matchu up
What I was ment to say was why they don't show us 3 videos for each battle report. one video with comments(as they did till now) and 2 more videos from each player point of view. so we can see the game in more dettails, and we can see how each player manage is own way of gameplay. would't it be better? (sorry for my english)

That would be nice yeah, they could have small video screens on the side that always are first person, and you could click on them to switch the main screen. Btw nothing wrong with your english, it's better than most's
What I don't get is the fact that there is a lot of things in SC2 that go BOOM! right now. So the baneling doesn't hit friendly units, the D8 charge doesn't hit friendly units, but the hunter-seeker missile does? The hunter-seeker also hits air when it explodes.
So my question is, if Blizzard keeps all these abilities then they all would have to be the same, meaning, that all of these abilities cause damage to friendlies or do not cause damage to friendlies. I just think there is a lot of possibilities that could go wrong if all of these abilities were not on the same page.
Also, as mucha s I like the hunter-seeker missile, I feel that a really good player with several nighthawks could destroy the enemies economy fairly easy. I spent a lot of time thinking about it and the ability might be to powerful, but I'd LOVE to keep it.
AUDIE wrote:Also, as mucha s I like the hunter-seeker missile, I feel that a really good player with several nighthawks could destroy the enemies economy fairly easy. I spent a lot of time thinking about it and the ability might be to powerful, but I'd LOVE to keep it.
i think its ok for friendly fire. Its force us to have a good micro to dont be hit by the splash dmg. And most of Terran unit is only range so its just good. we can you this abilitie to kick ass of hidden and air unit
I believe that the Zerg player was holding back a little personally. But with Audies help i noticed that we see everything he did not. He had no idea what the terran had in the back of there base. Still im upset we didnt get to see much Tech from Zerg thanks and cya.

Plus the zerg had HALF the mineral minners. Zerg would of won, but cooper forgot or chose not to make more miners. Once terran got his expandsion up and running, zerg was producing half the resources.
I think the queen would be asexual since there's nothing fertilizing her larva... except you, the player... eww.
+ I liked this match. Thank you Blizzard. I can't wait to see PvZ + Marauder graphics are awesome. + Banshee is bad-a$$. + Slow burrow on spine crawler makes sense or else you just have lurkers. + Creep block is awesome. + Hydralisk model is awesome.
- Watchtowers seem forced and not worth the trouble. Hunter Seeker Missile is too aggressive for that unit. Marauder can only get two in a bunker. It makes sense. I just don't like it.
That's what I noticed mostly. Very cool overall.
How do you spell Marauder so it picks up the link?

As you did, Marauder. M-A-R-A-U-D-E-R. (It only links to the wiki once per article, so if you say for instance: " Marine Marine Marine !" only one will be highlighted/a link)
Oh and I agree with the Watchtower thing, they feel forced. If they disappeared, I for one would not miss them.

+ I liked this match. Thank you Blizzard. I can't wait to see PvZ
+ Marauder graphics are awesome.

If they disappeared, I for one would not miss them.

watchtower would be more valuable if they could detect cloaked/ burrowed units

That'd be overpowered, as it has a huge range.
