Time for something new!

As you guys have probably noticed there wasn't a tournament organized last week (due to some real-life stuff and me). That's why this week I decided to make up for it by making a special event - a Free For All tournament. Here are the rules:

When and Where: 7PM GMT this Sunday (Aug 1st) iCCup channel sc2pod

Sign-ups: As usual, you can post a reply in this thread or send me a PM to sign up.

Game arranging:
- If there are 8 players or less(signed up), 1 game shall be played and the winner of the tournament is the winner of that game.

- If there are more than 8 players who have signed up, then 2 (or more) separate Games will be hosted and the players will be distributed equally between the games.
The winner of each FFA will play against the winner of other one (1vs1 Best of 3).

Live Casting:
So far I haven't talked with Grast (or any other commentator) but there will probably be live casting over the internet for those of you who just want to watch.

PRIZES!
The Winner of the tournament AND the player with most achievement points(see below) will receive:
The right to use a special signature until the next FFA tournament + 300 Minerals.

ACHIEVEMENTS!!
Ok, here is where YOU can help make the event more fun. Simply think up some stuff which players can do in game and get awarded for it after.

Each achievement gives a certain number of [points].

Screw you guys, I'm going home [2]- Awarded to a player who leaves the game due to other teaming up on him.

Ally [-1] - Team up with another player.

Backstabber /The Hell with you [-1] - Goes to a player who allies with someone else during the game and then all out of nowhere removes the alliance and attacks his partner.

Mastermind [4] - Goes to a Protoss player who manages to Mind Control a drone or an SCV and start developing a second race.

Radioactive [3] - Goes to the first player who uses a Nuke.

I'm taking you down with me [1]- Given to a zerg player who goes for a 4-pool.

Banelings anyone!? [4] - Goes to a player who manages to infest a Terran CC and produce at least 1 infested terran.

Balls of Steel [2] - Goes to the player who announces during the first 2 minutes what strategy he is going to do in the game (example: "Tiger: I'll mass Battlecruisers and have them stormed by a protoss.") If multiple players announce their plan, the player with the "craziest" plan wins.

This is all I can think of so far. I'm sure you guys have tons of suggestions so feel free to express them.

p.s. Sweet logo eh? :P
p.s.2 Tiger please make this Front Page news again (and sort of update the #2 one aswell)

I'm not sure if people will like having a single FFA instead of lots of 1v1s. I'm sure it'll be infinitely easier for you to manage, but it might not be as fun. If double eliminations are too hard to manage, maybe go back to single elimination?
Anyway, I most likely won't be able to play. :( I'll be out of town starting on Friday, and probably won't be back before it starts.

How lame. Shouldn't that be -1? :)

Oh sure, let's all laugh at me.

Once we get the final achievement list sorted out, somebody should make them in SC2Pod's achievement generator. :)

i had one 2v2 match where i got smashed right off the bat, but managed to save some key structures despite them decimating my troops. I then realized I had enough buildings to quickly finish the tech to BC's and still had enough resource gathering to keep going, so I started chugging out BC's.

My partner (rl friend) then started getting overwhelmed and asked for help...he looked at my base, saw bc's, and proceeded to yell "i'm dying over here, and you're massing Battlecruisers??!?!?"

@Tiger
You're right, a FFA is way more easy to manage ^_^
Plus you won't be here to help me out with the scores this week so I guess trying out the FFA is a great idea.
Oh and sorry about the BC example.. just had nothing else on my mind really.. xD

As long as the format keeps changing up, a week of FFA isn't bad. FFA obviously has its shortcomings due to luck of the draw, etc (i.e. one player escapes the attention of everyone and *IS* able to mass BC's) but throwing it into the mix for kicks and giggles could be fun :-)

I'd still play if you used Battle.net instead of Garena...

What map/maps are we going to be using. Will BGH just be the easiest one?

Thanks for the reminder Audie. The map which the FFAs are going to be played on is not determined yet, but one thing is for sure: it will NOT be Big Game Hunters (BGH) or any other "unlimited minerals in your base" macro map like that.

Agree with PiF, "unlimited minerals" is pretty lame and the game could go on forever.
